The focus of this class is reducing anxiety and improving sleep. Cancer diagnosis and treatments are anxiety producing. Increase anxiety is one of the most common and debilitating side effects reported by cancer patients and survivors. And this anxiety is different than normal life anxiety and can be long lasting.
This cancer-related anxiety and other physiological and physiological factors impact quality and ability to sleep. And painfully this – along with the anxiety – can have a circular and ongoing impact on quality of life and the body’s ability to manage treatments and heal.
Yoga has been proven to have positive impacts on reducing anxiety by decreasing cortisol and improving sleep. Interestingly, these benefits are driven by both movement and poses that activate the parasympathetic nervous system.
